It's quite staggering to me (even a few thousand miles away) that he has made such a f*** up of everything.

The people in a lot of states, including mine, have the ability to refer legislation for an up or down vote and initiate their own bills. I didn't know the Swiss had that as a nation. I don't know how well it would work in a larger nation. A lot of times outside money gets spent campaigning for or against depending on the bill.

The US should serve as a stark warning about what can happen in as little as 3 1/2 years. We are 36 trillion in debt and we have a adopted every failed policy from Britain and Europe over a decade after everyone else recognized they were failures in everything from “affirmative care” to open borders. although I have to proudly say as an American, we have failed in a much bigger way than you have… :) The arrogance in both of our cases is astounding, as it was entirely clear that the victors only won because of dissatisfaction with the other party and yet they bulldozed along like they had a mandate for every weird thing that popped in their head.

As someone who used to interview self-help authors for (the Australian iteration of) GQ, this one hit me where I live. (Very impressed with "Keir Starmer’s first ninety days resemble the syphilitic death throes of an eighteenth-century man of leisure," too – I'm going to have to lift my game!)

Excellent essay. Woeful hardly encompasses it. What is evident is that you have moved several steps closer to being some kind of corrupt emirate already, and are well on your way to full caliphate. Then it will just be a matter of eradicating the indigenous British one by one, with Sir Keir remaining confident until the end that he will be spared.

That spell of bronchitis was worth it, I've laughed out loud reading this. Excellent. My cousin lives in Switzerland. Home ownership is rare, landlords are whimsical and tenants nervous....but otoh, they can toss out the tossers quicker than a teenage boy with a pic of Kim kardashian 😂 Yes, it's going to be a long 4/5 years. The burning questions remain - who is the social misfit who procreated with Free Gear and gave him a "love child"? (More like "bloody hell I'm pregnant pay me or you're toast child)....Where is this poor benighted child and does Lady Victoria Sponger know? For sheer "get the popcorn out" value, they make the Tories look like rank amateurs.
