Speaking of witches, I recommend this audio documentary series: The Witch Trials of J. K. Rowling https://www.thefp.com/p/the-witch-trials-of-jk-rowling

Very interesting background on the rise of social media's cancel culture tendencies.

For me, the biggest argument against censorship is that somebody gets to decide what's "bad". That decision process will always become corrupted.

“In no country in which people can say what they like has there ever been a substantial famine.”

Irish Potato Famine; 1845-1852. Oh!! You mean “man-made famine”; a la Mao or Stalin.

Otherwise, reasonably brilliant.

Nicely done, pity those who might learn the most from the article will never read it, nothing new. That said, you'll be spared being drawn and quartered for your insolence.

Reminds me of this quote by Daniel Johnson, only funnier! “ The power of the press is quite limited, but the deadliest weapon in its arsenal is ridicule. In politics, as in religion and culture, the dereliction of duty deserves merciless ridicule, because ridicule is intolerable to those being ridiculed, and there is no other method by which a hollowed-out institution is more likely to be brought to its senses before it is too late.”

I was actually intrigued by the "law of attraction" from the Secret. It was hard to dismiss based on my observations of humans and my lived experience. Spiritual gravity. But, yes, much of the book is otherwise too prescriptive.

Another great piece justifying my choice to remain non-existent outside of Substack!

Mr. Gage, a very thoughtful and insightful column. In America we are doing the same as merry old England. The high blue check priests of woke leftism are destroying witches and heretics everyday. Our one advantage over good old England, we still have a right to defend our selves with if not superior knowledge, superior firepower.
